Protestors Shut Down Supreme Court Over Guantanamo Bay
SUPREME COURT (AP) - Protesters calling for the shutdown of the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, managed to shut down the Supreme Court for a brief time today.
More than 80 people were arrested. Demostrators wearing orange jumpsuits meant to look like prison garb were taken into custody inside and outside the building this afternoon.
Protesters chanted "shut it down," as others knelt on the plaza in front of the court.
The charges could get them 60 days in jail, a fine or both.
The Supreme Court is considering whether prisoners still detained at Guantanamo Bay have a right to challenge their confinement in U.S. courts.
