Obama forgot Latin America

New ad from from the McCain Campaign

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Why is it that when Senator Obama spoke to the WHOLE WORLD, he mentioned Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East, but NOT LATIN AMERICA?

Maybe it is because he has never stepped foot in LATIN AMERICA? Or maybe because he doesn't want to talk about his opposition to the Free Trade Agreements with Colombia, just as he intends to renegotiate the Treaties with Mexico and Canada?

Senator McCain has always defended Latinos and immigrants that come here from LATIN AMERICA and the whole world, insisting on the rights of immigrants to be observed; confronting his own political party. McCain has constantly traveled to LATIN AMERICA and as the Senator from Arizona, he understands our relationship with Latin America is important, and that is why he recently went to Mexico and Colombia.

There are more important things than public image, and John McCain puts country first!

That's why: "Estamos Unidos con McCain".

I'm really curious to see what Obama's comeback commercial will be, I mean this ad is so good and simple that he might need to take a fast trip down south.

There has not been one U.S. president that has recognized Latin America in a positive fashion. Not one, that has honestly cared about our regional needs for social justice and true democracy. From Grant to Monroe to Roosevelt, from Nixon to Reagan to Clinton, they have safeguarded their economic and strategic interest, in what they consider to be their "back yard," and in complicity with a long line, of brutal military dictators. The Monroe Doctrine demanded that Europe, keep out of their yard. The old "gun boat diplomacy" of the late 19 th and early 20 th century, evolved into the Fourth Naval Fleet, now deployed in the Caribbean. "Speak softly and carry a big stick," has become "Free trade." It is better that this candidates do not call our name in empty eloquence, or in meditated manipulation for votes. What they need to understand, is that we are their neighbors and brothers, not their enemies or servants. We are Americans.

Free trade is an anachronism. First you need equal trading partners. Colombia, and Mejico cannot be equal partners to the richest country in the world. Colombia, suffering from forty years of civil war, is a dependent economy, considerably rich in oil and very profitable to the arms market. U.S. companies in complicity with the rich landed families of Colombia, are the only ones that will profit from any free trade agreement. A much larger population of rural landless poor and urban poor, will not even know that such "preferential" trade practices have been implemented. No free trade agreement with U.S. corporate giants, is going to help the poor in our continent. The future of our Latin American family, is mutual and just cooperation amongst each other, and with the progressive forces and honest businesses of the U.S. and Canada. Sustainable relations, that are mutually beneficial on a broad social and economic level, is what we need to move ahead. The equitable sharing of our rich human and natural resources, will bring us together as Bolivar envisioned. Regional trade agreements and treaties are already in action all over the continent. Trade between brother nations, not savage competition between adversaries, with conflicting interests.

Uncle MC Cain is not going to take care of the horrific conditions of life, that plague the immigrant barrios and cities in the U.S. He is only pandering our vote, and will pay back your trust, by sending national guard troops into your neighborhood, a la Berlusconi in Italy, with the excuse of fighting criminal activity. The only activity that we need to fight, is the criminality of economic inactivity in our poor neighborhoods. We need to stop the proliferation of liquor stores in every corner, predatory loans companies, hand guns, heroin, cocaine and junk food cartels, that offer a quick fix to hunger that is high in dangerous fats. We need to address poverty, build bilingual public schools, train doctors to attend the poor, and build hospitals in our own neighborhoods.
